Kyocera Zio M6000 Android

source – engadget.com/ by Vladislav Savov

You know your mobile OS is going places when people start resurrecting their smartphone divisions just to throw out their own spin on it. Kyocera‘s approach with the new Zio M6000 has been to marry an 800 x 480 display to some rather middle of the road components and to sell that package at a significantly lower price point (between $169 and $216 unsubsidized) than most Android-infused communicators on the market. You know, for the people that like to have a handsome high-res phone, but don’t need it to have the firepower to run Quake. It’s still not a terrible slouch, coming with a 600MHz MSM7227 CPU from Qualcomm, 512MB of onboard app memory, and 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Look out for its US arrival in the second quarter of this year.

Amazing Home Breaking Architecture Rules in Tokyo’s Center

source – freshome.com/ Author: Michael

We do not know if you guys recall, but we had some information on this project in a previous Freshome post. Today we are back with more pictures on its unusual architecture and with something extra regarding its interior design. The project is called “Reflection of Mineral” and belongs to Japanese architect Yasuhiro Yamashi from Atelier Tekuto. Located not far from the center of Tokyo, the contemporary 480 sq ft (44 sq m) residence breaks the architecture rules its surroundings. The amazing abstract shape was designed very efficiently, making use of the little space. Every angle of site brings with it a different view. The interior’s original shapes and dimensions are determined by the architecture and the arrangements had to be done accordingly. You can check out the final results in the pictures below. Enjoy!

Cottesloe House by Paul Burnham : The Australian Way

source – freshome.com/ Author: Lavinia

Cottesloe House comes from by Paul Burnham Architect and is located in Perth, Western Australia, in the beach side suburb of Cottesloe. We appreciate the diversity of its exterior design, with the unusual architecture twists. Inside you will notice that most of the rooms are connected, while showing off  a contemporary feel. Here is a statement from the architects regarding the project: “Concrete is a recurring theme throughout the house in recognition of the owners’ occupation and willingness to engage alternate methods of construction and finishes. The successful aspects of the property appear to be the sense of privacy, the consistency of light quality and the uplifting sensation from the significant winter sunlight penetration throughout the building.” Like what you see?

Dell Aero a light Android phone

source – engadget.com/ by Vladislav Savov

AT&T’s teaser site for the Dell Aero has gone live and we can now fill in a few more gaps in our knowledge about this forthcoming handset. It’s looking every bit the renamed Mini 3 we thought it was, so click here and here to get a closer look at the body of the device. The official web mouthpiece confirms a 3.5-inch screen with nHD resolution — which may or may not signify the same 640 x 480 as on the Brazilian and Chinese versions — and one definite point of departure, a 5 (rather than 3) megapixel camera on the back. Claimed to be the lightest Android smartphone yet, the Aero will also come with WiFi and GPS built in, though its biggest attraction will undoubtedly be the thoroughly tricked out Android UI, which promises Picassa, Flick, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitpic integration right out of the box. Check out the gallery below for some hints of what that willl look like.

Germany keeps spreading the browser hate, warns against Firefox

Germany keeps spreading the browser hate, warns against Firefox

Remember back when Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security said that Internet Explorer just wasn’t good enough for its citizens? The Office is doing its civic duty once again, this time warning against that formerly lean and mean upstart competitor: Firefox — for a little while, at least. The Office “recommends the use of alternative browser until Mozilla has released Firefox version 3.6.2,” due one week from today, and while it doesn’t make a recommendation on which browser you should be using in the interim, we’re thinking Lynx users can keep on surfing with confidence.

Update: Just as this post was going live Mozilla released the 3.6.2 Firefox security update that Bürger-CERT was looking for. Their press release has been changed to recommend updating your browser to the new version ASAP, and if you really did jump over to Lynx we would recommend closing that terminal window and getting back to reality ASAP.

Contemporary Wooden Retreat by Johnston Architects

source – freshome.com/ Author: Lavinia

Located on the Oregon Coast, in Bluff Bandon, where Coquille River meets the ocean, this contemporary wooden residence comes from Johnston Architects and is our idea of a stylish retreat. The architecture plan features an “L”-shaped building which is open to both the river and ocean. The amazing natural surroundings were not left out and large windows allow unobstructed views. Enormous cypress trees guard the area and were brilliantly integrated in the building’s design. A cool wooden deck is also part of the architecture. The interior features a modern design enriched with rustic elements and spacious rooms with a fresh feel. What do you say? Does this place match your escape dream home?

Viliv S10 Blade

source – engadget.com/ by Donald Melanson

The folks at UMPC Portal have already treated us to an unboxing of Viliv’s new S10 Blade convertible netbook, but they’re now back with a full review that gives a better picture of the device. On the whole, they seem to be fairly impressed with the device, noting its thin and sleek design, and its “silent, rugged operation.” They were also pleasantly surprised by the battery life, which clocked in at an impressive 7.5hrs with WiFi on during general use. On the downside, the resistive multitouch screen wasn’t quite as responsive as they would have liked, and there are a few other minor annoyances — like the lack of a button to rotate the screen in tablet mode, no mic input or Ethernet port, and some fairly lackluster built-in speakers. In other Viliv news, it looks like none other than Best Buy has recently started carrying the company’s devices (online, at least), although it doesn’t yet have the S10 up for order.
